The director Robin Pront and crew brought a good film but with a restrained thriller. The story is about a reformed hunter and a sheriff who tracks down a murderer. This movie is so good but it could have been great it had so much potential with fascinating characters. The suspense was very weak it felt too controlled for a certain build-up in which never came. I like how it tackles the love between a family and how the lines get blurred to do what might be right. There were many incredible moments and it frustrates me how everything turned into the most expected outcome.
The composers Brooke and Will Blair brought fantastic music that defined the town's atmosphere beautifully.
What a cast! Annabelle Wallis, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Zahn McClarnon, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and Melanie Scrofano! Their performances were solid as ever but it left me wanting more as in one of the reasons the film felt incomplete. It gives one a glimpse but then it rushes ever so quickly to track down the murderer without realizing how it skips so many great things about these characters. I was intrigued in the Sheriff's storyline every decision she made got me so engaged with so much of her complexity but sadly along the way it was like they put it aside and that is where the movie got ruined. If only the length of the film was longer it could have accomplished more than a simple entertainment film.
